Working with dashboards

AbleOrganizer includes a fully-featured dashboard system that lists recent activities and summary data about the various features installed with the platform. Dashboards can be customized and personalized with information specific to your organizational needs.

Default dashboard

The dashboard that ships with AbleOrganizer includes a number of tools and features that help you to manage activities within your website. You can visit the AbleOrganizer dashboard, where you will find a page that looks similar to the one included in the screenshot below.

  • The lefthand column lists recent activity on your site. Each activity has an icon listing the type, and it links to the contact and page where the activity originated. This list is created through views and can be customized to include additional information about each activity.
  • At the top of the righthand column, you will find a list of quicklinks that allow you to create new entities in the system. This includes contacts, various feature pages, activities and profile forms.
  • At the bottom of the righthand column, you will find a set of summary data about donations, event registration, petitions and volunteer activity within your site. The specific list of items will vary depending on how your site was set up during installation.

Customizing the dashboard

AbleOrganizer's default dashboard is built to provide a general overview of activity information along with links for carrying out specific actions. The content, appearance, placement of content, and other details can be customized using a web-based administrative interface.

When you hover your mouse near the upper right-hand corner of the dashboard, you will notice a set of gears appear. When you hover over the gears, you will see a link that says 'Edit Panel.' Use this link to access a drag-and-drop interface for modifying the contents of the dashboard. This interface will allow you to adjust the placement of contents, control the width and spacing of columns, add new regions to the dashboard and otherwise change the way it behaves in your website.

You can replace the dashboard with another using the CRM administration screen, by changing the path to the dashboard. Look for the box labelled 'Path to Dashboard' and change it to any other valid path in your site.

You can also remove the dashboard entirely on the CRM administration screen by unchecking the box labelled 'Use a Dashboard for CRM Core.' This will remove the dashboard along with links to it throughout the site.
